Had a few things going on this morning...I'm not feeling my best (I haven't been sleeping well), needed to change my plans for today....again....walked past the vase of orchids and noticed they were dropping flowers like crazy.  Since I wanted to do a photo study of the flowers at different stages I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to it sooner.  Then, as things happen so many times, I noticed my Guidepost book sitting there and it inspired me.

I haven't made the time to read the devotions or sketch in it lately.  One more thing to feel bad about.......but wait!  If I turn that around I can look at this as a positive!  I wanted to take pictures of flowers today anyway.  So why not take pictures of the orchids?  And a few minutes reading today's devotion, before I start working on the job that I don't want to do, couldn't hurt.  Even better.. what if I take pictures of the orchids ON the book?

If it hadn't happened so many times before I wouldn't believe it.  I felt that today's devotion was written just for me.  It's about working too hard on one project and not taking time to be restored by God's Word.  The author wrote about being grumpy and low on energy and "hurry sickness". Trying to do to much, thinking it's still not enough, not taking time out to read and pray as a way to care for himself.

Well, I picked up that book, gathered a handful of fallen orchids and my camera.  15 minutes later I had captured the light from the window and the details of several stages of the flower's growth.  I photographed them on the devotional page as a reminder to make the time to restore my soul.

I hope that this post will inspire someone else today just as I was inspired by the story written by Jeffery Japinga in the Daily Guideposts - 2013 book.

"The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!"  Lamentations 3:24
